PR: PG ANDERSSON STEPS IN FOR WORLD CHAMP EKSTROM!

Former World Rally and World Rallycross driver PG Andersson will return to the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Holjes in Sweden next week, his home round of the Championship.

Although he has been on the entry list for the World RX of Sweden since it was revealed by the FIA 10 days ago, PG Andersson’s drive in Mattias Ekstrom’s EKS Audi S1 quattro Supercar was confirmed today, as Audi Sport announced that World RX Champion Ekstrom will race at the Norisring round of DTM, which takes place on the same weekend.

“I’m happy that my (Audi Sport) boss (Dieter Gass) has made this decision for me,” said Ekstrom. “That of all events there’s a clash between my home race in Höljes and one of my favourite races in the DTM is a real shame. I’d have loved racing at both events but, unfortunately, that’s not possible logistically.”

Two time Junior World Rally Champion PG Andersson raced for Marklund Motorsport in World RX in 2015. He drove in 10 events, finished fourth in Belgium and made the final four times on his way to 13th in the points. He also made a one-off appearance for EKS in Turkey in 2014, but didn’t qualify for the semi-finals. The Swedish driver will be reunited on the World RX grid with former JWRC team mate, Guy Wilks, who tested his Volkswagen Polo Supercar in Sweden last week.
