PR: GEHRMAN AND BRATEN MOVE TO EURO RX WITH EKLUND MOTORSPORT!

Sweden’s Philip Gehrman and Norway’s Anders Braten will move up to the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercar this season in a pair of Eklund Motorsport Volkswagen Beetle Supercars.

Gehrman and Braten have been regular front runners in the FIA Euro RX TouringCar Championship in recent seasons. Gehrman made his Euro RX Supercar debut with Eklund Motorpsort last season at Holjes, Sweden and also raced the Beetle in Riga, Latvia. Braten made his Supercar debut at Franciacorta in Italy, in 2015.

“Driving a Supercar is in no way similar to the TouringCar, it’s double the horsepower, double the amount of driving wheels and twice as much fun too. The Supercar is a rocket. I’ve been interested in rallycross all my life and my biggest goal has been to race a Supercar at Holjes like my idols, people like Per and Kenneth Hansen. I know Per will do everything in his power to make this year as good as possible,” said Gehrman. Both drivers previously raced Ford Fiestas in TouringCar, where they were regular podium finishers, and are looking forward to working with rallycross legend and team owner Per Eklund.

“I have a very good feeling about the team, the cars and everything for this year. To commit for a full season in Supercar has always been a dream and now we’re finally there. Philip is a good driver and by working together on and off track, I think we can develop. To go for a win in the first year is maybe to aim a little high, but we will do our very best. To get into the finals will be a great achievement. Per is a legend and it’s really good for us to work with him and have access to his experience from motorsport,” concluded Braten.
